About The Artist

I went to sea at 15 with the Royal Navy and came ashore again 12 years later having experienced typhoons in the Pacific, hurricanes in the Atlantic, the deep freeze of the Arctic and monsoons of the tropics; but such beauty everywhere.

Then after 3 years in commerce which was illuminating but boring, I became a Financial Adviser for the next 47 years, which on balance I found wonderfully fulfilling.

Even after all that time, salt water still flows through my veins but I love the dry land and all its surprises too.

I have had no formal training but had been painting in water colour on and off for about twenty years. After trying acrylics in about 2015 the bug bit: I had to become a painter!

Poems

Each of the prints of my original paintings comes with a thought provoking four line verse, written by Diane Cooke who has taught and inspired KS2 children for many years, with a special interest in developing their creative writing skills.

Prints and Framing

Print Quality
Our Giclee fine art prints use pigment based none fade inks which typically last for 100 + years and offer the best possible reproduction of colour and hue. They are printed on slightly textured Museum Heritage 310 gsm Fine Art Paper.

Print Sizes
The standard sizes are shown with each picture but should you prefer larger or smaller prints please ask for a quote. Please remember measurements are in centimetres and approximate to within a very few millimetres.

Package & Postage
P&P is included in prices for the UK. Outside the UK please ask for a quote.

Framing
Because framing is so personal and décor sensitive, prints are delivered unframed and rolled in strong tubes. Please contact me if you would like to hear my suggestions for framing.

About The Artist

Jennifer is a 25 year-old self-taught portrait artist based in West Sussex. She recently completed a BSc Psychology with Neuroscience, however her life-long love of art has taken over and she is now successfully working full-time as an artist, working primarily with a mix of pastels and colour pencil.

Her usual subjects are dogs and horses, however she has also been commissioned to draw other pets, more exotic animals, people and the occasional building: she is always open to a challenge!

Jennifer has grown up around animals and has previously worked with both animals and people in emotional capacities. Thus in her art, she is particularly keen to observe and reproduce the emotion and life presented by both animals and humans and is often complimented on the expression and liveliness in the eyes of her subjects.

She does enjoy producing her own original works for sale and sometimes runs stalls at art and craft fairs, however generally, her commission-based work takes up all of her time: work which she finds incredibly rewarding. Her commissions usually come from the UK but the occasional international request does crop up and she is always happy to oblige.

She has three dogs and a horse, all of whom act as unending inspiration and a husband who is eternally patient with her long working hours and dedication to her work.

Painting Style
Jennifer's style has developed since some of the paintings on this site were published. To see her current style, please see the first 3 paintings on this site and her Facebook page.

Tuition
Jennifer now offers private tuition and is open to developing group lessons.

Portrait Commissions

Affordable yet realistic traditional portraits of your favourite pets - be it anything from horse to hound - or your loved ones in a variety of traditional tools to suit your needs. However you want it, when you want it!

The artwork can be produced in the medium of your choosing. I usually work with coloured chalk pastels as they produce a soft, warm effect which is perfect when representing your loved ones. Standard portrait sizes are 12 x 9" or 16 x 12" however, I can use any size paper and any medium from chalk pastels, to charcoal, to graphite pencil, to coloured pencil, to oil pastel!

All you need to do is provide me with a few photographs of the person or animal you wish to be drawn (alternatively, if you don't have any photos and are in the Sussex area I can visit you and photograph the subject myself at an extra cost). Let me know what medium you'd like me to use and when you'd like it to be done by. Due to a high volume of work, commissions usually take about 6 weeks to be produced, however, if you need it earlier we can work something out and leave the rest to me!

I can add in, alter or remove details at your request. Artistic license is a great thing!

It's best to email me to discuss exactly what you would like and we can go from there.

About The Artist

I am a sculptor, predominantly working in stone and metal, but I also paint and draw when the need arises. When working with stone I make figurative pieces, human or animal and I tend to let the stone lead the way. What I mean is I draw the inspiration from the particular lump of rock and in a sense release the image I can see within it.

Working with metal is very different, as I have a more deliberate and focused approach. It also lends itself well to making larger structures and allows me to develop more ambitious ideas for outdoor or garden sculptures.

I am known to almost everybody as Jericho because lots of people find my real name difficult to pronounce. As of 1st January 2006, I became a full-time artist. For the most part of my career I have been working mostly to commissions as well as working steadily to complete a body of work that I can show.

So, if you are thinking of commissioning a sculpture for a garden (or other outdoors or indoors space) please feel free to contact me to discuss any aspect of the process.

Chronology

I was born in Subotica (former Yugoslavia) in 1970 and started practising art there at an early age. It was only after I emigrated to Britain and after completing my art degree that I became a professional artist (BA Fine Art, First Class Honours Degree). I am also known as Jericho – a name given to me by my wife and now adopted as an alias.

My portfolio consists not only of sculptures and three dimensional works, but also paintings and drawings. I love working in stone and metal, but I've also worked with cold casting and wood. I have had a number of commissions for paintings and sculptures, both abstract and figurative, for corporate clients and individuals.

Art Group / Exhibitions

Surrey Sculpture Society
I am a member of Surrey Sculpture Society and have taken part in a group exhibition at RHS Wisley in 2006 and 2008; Savill Gardens in 2007 and 2008; Borde Hill Gardens in 2008 and 2009 and Denbies Vineyard in 2007. I was a member, for two years, of 2 by 4 Artists Artists group in Horsham and took part in 2 group exhibitions in 2005.

I organised a venue and showed work, with two other artists, at the Artists and Makers Festival Open Houses and Studios in Horsham in July 2006. I also had a solo exhibition at Roffey Park Institute, Horsham in 2008.

I have shown work at the Great Art Fair in Alexandra Palace, London; Denbies Vineyard Bacchus Award Exhibition in January 2007; The Battersea Art Fair in 2007 and 2008 and The Landmark Arts Centre Art Fair in 2008 and 2009.

I exhibited at the Acorn Galleries in Billingshurst, West Sussex - one man show from 5th April to 25th April 2007 and the Quaker Art Week in Dorking in 2008. I had a solo exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculptures in June 2000, in Leicester and was exhibited at South Croxton Biennial Art Festival in Leicestershire 2001 and the London Affordable Art Fair in Autumn 2004

About The Artist

Hi, my name is Colette. Thank you for looking at some of my recent portraits.

I have been an artist for many years. I spent my life around art and artists. My father ran a gallery in Sussex and my husband is also an artist, who taught me the rudiments of the Italian Rennaisance masters. I apply the tecniques to my portraits and use handground oil pigments of a fine quality, often veiling the colours in the traditional manner.

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait, be it of yourself, your loved ones, or pets, please phone so I may discuss the details, or email me at the above address.

To give you a guide as to price, paintings on view here are on canvas, in oils, at a size of 30cms x 40cms. This is a good size for either a single or double portrait, but different dimensions can be worked out. As to price: At this size, a single would be £110; a double, (either 2 persons or pet and person), £150. Delivery extra.

I am happy to talk with you to discuss the various aspects of painting a portrait that you will love.
